Session Title: "The Power of Honesty"

Age Group: 10-12 years old

Objectives:

-To understand the importance of honesty

-To learn that telling the truth is always better than lying

To develop critical thinking and discussion skills

To encourage empathy and self-reflection

Preparation:

- Select the Stories  beforehand

- Prepare scenario cards for the group activity

- Bring a pencil box  or cookies in jar for demonstration purposes)

-Prepare a "Truth Chart" or a poster with quotes about honesty

Session Plan:

*Warm-Up (5 minutes):

- Introduce the topic of honesty 

- Excercise 

 Try this exercise:

Close your eyes and repeat the following phrases to yourself:

'I am honest' - 5 times

'I am the best' - 5 times

Repeat this exercise daily, and I'm sure you will start believing in yourself and become more honest and confident. The power of affirmations can help rewire your mind and shape your behavior, leading to positive changes in your life."

Remember, honesty is a valuable trait that builds trust, respect, and strong relationships. Believing in yourself and your abilities can also boost your self-esteem and confidence.

The Little Boy and the Cookies

Max was a  six-year-old who loved cookies. One day, while his mom was busy in the garden,  Max snuck into the kitchen and took a chocolate chip cookie from the jar. He knew he wasn't supposed to take cookies without asking, but he just couldn't resist.

When his mom came back into the kitchen, she noticed that a cookie was missing. She asked Max, "Did you take a cookie from the jar?"

Max looked down at his feet and said, "No, I didn't take a cookie." He didn't want to get in trouble.

But then... he started to feel bad. He didn't like keeping a secret from his mom. He thought about how his mom always told him to be honest and tell the truth.

So, Max took a deep breath and said, "Mom, I'm sorry. I did take the cookie. I know I shouldn't have, but I just really wanted one."

His mom smiled and said, "Thank you for telling the truth, Max I'm proud of you! It takes a big person to admit when they've made a mistake. Let's have a cookie together, and next time, just ask me first, okay?"

The Girl and the Missing Pencil_

Reema was a responsible student who always kept track of her belongings. One day, during class, she noticed that her favorite pencil was missing. She asked her friend, Arya, if she had seen it. Arya said no, but Reema noticed that Arya was acting suspiciously.

Later, Reema saw  Arya using her pencil. When confronted, Arya denied taking it. But Reema knew the truth. She felt upset and didn't know what to do.

The next day, Arya apologized and returned the pencil. She explained that she had taken it by mistake and was afraid to admit it.

Arya forgave Sarah and they continued to be friends. Emily learned that honesty and forgiveness are important in relationships.

Activity (20 minutes):

 Divide students into small groups and give each group a scenario card

-Ask each group to discuss and decide what they would do in that situation

 Encourage empathy and self-reflection

_Scenario:_ You receive a gift from someone, but you don't like it. You could lie and say you like it or tell the truth.

_Scenario:_ You promise to help a friend, but then you change your mind. You could make up an excuse or tell the truth.

_Scenario:_ You have to tell a friend something they don't want to hear. You could sugarcoat it or tell the truth.

- How would you feel if you didn't tell the truth and the situation got worse?

*Scenario:* You find a phone on the ground at school. It's a brand new iPhone and has a case with a name on it. You could keep it and no one would know, or you could try to find the owner.

- Why is honesty important in this situation?

- How would you feel if you kept the phone and someone found out?

Conclusion (5 minutes):

Gather the students together and ask each group to share their scenario and decision

 Summarize the key points from the discussion and story

 Emphasize the importance of honesty and encourage students to always tell the truth

Assessment:

Observe student participation during the discussion and activity

 Collect the scenario cards to assess their understanding of the importance of honesty
